From Dr. Dyer's PBS special last night
“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great, and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and your discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.”
I'm about 2/3 of the way through the book. I didn't catch the TV special.
However, I can relate to that quote. I walked away from a music teaching job in the schools that was not very satifysing several years ago to finally seriously pursue music as a performer instead of just thinking I would be a "weekend warrior" musician for the rest of my days.
The synchonistic events that have happened in the last several years since I made this decision have been great. I am sure they were happening all along, but I was too bogged down with the job I had to really notice at the time.
I have a nice balance now of playing and teaching part time at the college level, which is really what I set out to do when I decided to study music at the college level years ago.
I just got sidetracked, but now am back on the path. I let being too concerned about finances do it to me (paying back those student loans!!).
However, timing is everything and I do not regret having that job as I learned many skills and many things about myself.
I saw a portion of the PBS program last night and I taped it so I can watch the whole thing whenever I need some "inspiration."
That is a beautiful quote you posted and confirms to me that we really can be anything we want. We just have to believe and allow our good to come to us.
We are very powerful beings! )

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the program on PBS. I clung to his Power Of Intention and was SO excited to see the new one, Inspiration. I've been immediately inspired...just a day after watching the program! I am following my heart on something I've been resisting for a while out of fear. I feel very at peace about my decision to take this chance and I'm not scared now. I know it is one of those things I MUST do regardless of what lessons await me. Life is so short there is no time for fear. Also, I was so happy for Dr. Dyer that he's taken up yoga and painting. His childhood echos my own, messages from caregivers - and I too began painting, a few years ago, and am an athlete as well. Redefining my life has been a theme for many years and in the 70's I read Dr. Dyer's first two books as well as everything psychology and later para-psychology I could lay my hands on. Today every word he speaks resonates within my own reality so we have been on the same path for a while. I think he looks angelic when he speaks today. And I am hoping to see him live here in L.A. in May!
At the end of Wayne's most recent PBS special he gives a quote by Emerson. I have forgotten the quote and my attempts to find it on the web have come up empty.
Do you remember the quote?
Do you remember the quote?
Here is the quote he gave 3 hours and 40 minutes into the PBS special
"We are very near to greatness; one step and we are safe, can we not take the leap?" (Emerson)
WOW- That was faster than my search - Thanks so much Chris
