Cheekykid- Thanks so much! You have been very helpful.
In past few months, I have been listening to Dr Dyer on Hayhouse. I bought few of his Cds also and listen to them in my car. It has helped me alot in my difficult time in my life which I am going though right now.
Dr Dyer mentioned that there are contracts with God written to prior to our incarnation on earth. He gives an example of his father teaching him about forgiveness and self reliance. Yet, he says we can manifest anything using the Japa medititation. If someone already have a contract written prior to incarnation, for example, lets say the contract is that that person's father will abandon him/her and yet he/she uses Japa meditation to manifest to bring back the father back in his/her life. Will that happen? I mean, how much is already written vs how much can be manifested.

Thanks again for replying to my earlier posts. This is a great forum!

The answer is in our soul, when we are selfish, our soul don't feel good enough, but when we love ourself we feel free, like a bird in a blue high sky.
loving myself = loving other peopls

Dr Dyer mentioned that there are contracts with God written to prior to our incarnation on earth. He gives an example of his father teaching him about forgiveness and self reliance. Yet, he says we can manifest anything using the Japa medititation.

You might want to think for yourself rather than think that this guy knows everything.

Ask yourself the question how does he know this? If he answers that he meditated and saw this in a vision then the real answer is it is his imagination.

I am not against love, peace, and happiness nor am I against Buddhism, which is WHAT THIS IS HE IS TEACHING, but I am against the notion that you should go through life with the 'ignorance is bliss' notion.

I read through, ain't finishing it, 10 Secrets For Success And Inner Peace and get the same anger that I get when I read the Dalai Lama's books. To my understanding what he is saying is that it is all right whatever happens. That it is all part of some plan of some god that he can't even prove exsists and that we are all here for a reason and that we all are born 'on time' and die 'on time' according to some unknown plan. So, it is all right that some of us are murdered?

Does this contract with god also include that we come down here to be murdered? Raped? Molested? Poverty? War? Hatred? Torture? Then it is all good and there is nothing bad because it is all god's plan. We're all actors in some stupid soap opera designed to make god happy and our suffering don't count.

This is what I feel and think when I read buddhist stuff like this.

So then I think well what is the point of even bothering to try to do anything good or bad or indifferent since it is all god's doing anyway?

I HATE religion with a passion and I hate being told, directly or indirectly, that I am just a puppet in a soap opera and nothing that happens to me matters and it certainly doesn't matter to god and his great soap opera.

I also do not believe in god and don't want god. What I want are guarantees and proofs and REAL things that work to keep me safe. I got everything else just no guarantees and no real saftey from harm. But then again according to religious people of all faiths we are just pawns and got to hope that god won't treat us too bad.

It is as if religious people are abused spouses. They have the same mentality.

And as for CheekyKid
"You should never begin to practise something that doesn't make any sense whatsoever to you. Regardless of the justification behind it if it doesn't 'click' in you avoid it with a good gesture till you become 'ready' to try it. When you are 'ready' you can't really fail.
That's what I do anyway."

I don't get why religious people are so easy on religion by that I mean it is almost as if you are saying, and this is very true in wicca, that you can just make it up as you go along. I read on a message board once where some wiccan asked for a spell of some sort and the replies were 'just make something up the intention is the important thing. the lord and lady will know what you mean.' And none of these witches could introduce me to this lord and lady, yet they are 'suppposed' to exsist.

Isn't anyone bothered by the fact that religion is unprovable? That it is all built on faith? That it is all right by some faith's beliefs to kill others?

Why am I so mad? Why should I care?

I WOULDN'T care if religion just was something a person did on their own or it was just something that people believed not something used to torture, murder, and force people to read, act, dress, and do whatever a select group of people, who are supposed to 'know' so much as if they got god's cell phone number, say. Also religous groups are buying up polititians and trying to make rules and laws according to what THEY believe.

AND YOU CAN'T PROVE A DAMN THING. Even the POPE don't got god's phone number. Even the Dalai Lama said himself that he cannot prove that karma or reincarnation exsists he just believes it because he believes in his religion.

And now we have religious people trying to control science!

I googled this message board to post some complaints on Dyer's book and to get feedback so I'll start writing.

I guess it is my goal to stop religion and make people wake up.

Dear 'itwaits',
Thanks so much for your reply. At this point of my life, I am searching for some answers about life. Dr Dyers's teachings about 'Prewrtitten contracts' is very confusing to me too. It almost seems like Karma concept of Hinduism. I love Dr Dyers teachings about love and forgiveness (I have spent big amount of $s on his books and tapes)...so, I am not agaist his teachings...but I think you are right....no one can prove a damn thing....I also think Dr Dyer is also searching for his answers...going to India and learning from 'gurus'...( And I wonder...why so many spiritual enlighted people are in India and China only.....shouldn't they be ALL over the world?..... Nothing agaist India or China..since, I am an Indian).

I will not disregard Dr Dyers teachings.....however...I will continue searching for my answers.....

Amin

Hi itwaits

I am not much into posting on boards, however I saw your posting and thought it might be good to post you a note.

Sounds like you are really angry at all this and you are indeed in the process of finding yourself. Believe it or not the answer is quite simple.

Albert Einstein once commented that “the most fundamental question we can ever ask ourselves is whether or not the universe we live in is friendly or hostile.”

If you decide it is friendly all your energies proceed to make your universe friendly and vise versa. No magic here but a simple truth.

You have made it quite clear to the things you hate and distrust, change your sight to the people and things including yourself that you do love and watch the dramatic changes in your life, it worked for me. This also means that you aknowledge pain and suffering but you determine the response to it . Simply choose to be happy, this is your authentic power. No ghosts, religions or systems that do not work for you.

Something to look forward to is if you continue to look for the “truth” or seek for an answer you deem to be true then you will find it, the only true reality is what you are currently experiencing

Wishing you all the best

Actually, when you love yourself you CANNOT be selfish. Quite the contrary.

When you love yourself you have no fear (which is the opposite of love for me), you have no insecurity about the outcome of things, therefore you don’t have the need to manipulate, to draw energy from others or to close yourself from people.

If you take a close look you’ll see that selfish people are the most insecure people really…deep inside.

Selfishness, is just their cover-up.

It is not selfish to love yourself. You have got to learn who you are and what you are before you can love someone else. Love yourself. Respect yourself, make yourself transparent so Gods love flows through you. Look inside a mirror at your reflection. That reflection is your best friend. You have to be able to say, and mean it, that I love you. You have to ask that person for forgivness of the hurt and pain that you have caused in the past. That person is a reflection of Gods intention.
God bless on your journey.

Dear friend,

I won't agree or disagree with you.

Each person should listen to his heart and find the truth there. I respect people that SEARCH for Truth and dare to doubt.

The only thing I wanted is to comment on is this last phrase that you wrote.

You can't fight negativity with neativity.

Violence brings more violence and not peace.

People have the need to defend themselves when you reject them or jeopardize their beliefs.

One last thing...I would like to include your reply - if you will permit it - on my forum in Greece, which of course I will have to translate. It is "the other point of view" and we should not be afraid to doubt and question everything.

You are free to join if you can speak Greek. D

When Dr. Dyer speaks of loving one's self, selfishness has nothing to do with it. Treating one's self as the divine beings that we each are is our birth right. What better gift can we give to our family, friends, and the world for that matter, than a relaxed, happy and fullfilled self? If it feels good and it doesn't hurt anyone else then it is good.
