Power of Intention? --Puzzled--

I have read every book Dr. Dyer has written and sincerely tried every technique he has explained without the results I intend. He is a powerful speaker but even better at marketing himself. I guess I'm very disillusioned. I have chosen to be happy dispite the fact that none of my dreams or desires have born fruit no matter which technique I have tried.

I'll give you that Wayne is an excellent marketer... and you sure can't argue with his success at selling 50+ million books.

Are you saying that absolutely *none* of your dreams or desires have come true?

Care to share an example of what some of them are?

Sure Chris,
I can give lots of examples

I am not the weight I intend to be- not obese but not thin either. I eat right, exercise like crazy. I'm fit but definitely "chunky."

I don't have the financial abundance I intend for myself probably because I don't have the job I intend to have. I have a good boring job but not the one I want.

I don't have the relationship I intend. In my last relationship, I thought I finally had it right, but my partner of 7 years evidently did not agree.

I intend to have a new roof on my home and I intend to remodel the attic into a master bedroom and bath. So far - nada.

Shall I go on?

A key I believe to understanding or applying "intention" principles is that you must create a knowing within yourself and your self-talk that what you want to attract in your life already exists for you...if not in the physical world, at least in the visualization and mental perception universe that are your thoughts.

Example If you want to attract being "thin" -- then you must develop an inner knowing that you are already connecting to being thin. Once you know in your being that you are thin...you will begin to act as a thin person acts...eating as a thin person eats, exercising with the intensity that a thin person with your genetics exercises and so forth.

Some people have different challenges with the above example as it may appear to be "faith-based" advice that requires you to take a leap of faith in yourself to develop a belief about yourself that does not exist in the physical world... at least YET. D It doesn't have to exist in the physical world yet, but it does need to begin in the world of your thoughts.

All things that you want to manifest in the physical world must begin in the formless world of thought...and then be backed with consistent action, but I'm sure you already know this.

There is no benefit to hanging onto thoughts that do not support your positive intentions. This seems obvious, but most people find a payoff in supporting or nurturing thoughts that do not assist them. In the end, you either focus on ways to attract your desires or you focus on ways to ensure they do not materialize. The choice is yours...at least with the circumstances you can control in this world.

Best wishes to you on this journey.

To manifest, have the intention and desire, and feel the feelings connected with that intention and desire. The physical reality we experience IS a reflection of ourselves, the universe is not "out there" but inside each of us. when we feel the feelings connected to our intent and desire, therein lies our true power.
Have the desire, focus the will and realise that our reality does not support us, we support our reality. It is always reflecting to us who we are, what we believe we are etc. As within, so without.
Set the intent, focus the will and detach from the outcome, not 99.9 percent, but 100 percent. The tiniest fragment of doubt will sabotage our manifesting.
Letting it go, detaching from the outcome (always been the hardest part for this particular personality) is the only way. Feel, taste, smell use the senses to BE-come what you are. What we focus on expands, become the observer of your mind and take control of the thinking. Live your dream and saturate your unconscious with the new beliefs you have about yourself.

Well said Elizabeth! The only thing I differ on is the 100% part quoted above. Upon reading this, most would feel hopeless, that there is no way they can achieve 100% of their desire, with absolutely no doubt, at least not initially. I believe the key lies in another part of your thoughts

when we feel the feelings connected to our intent and desire, therein lies our true power.

Our feelings are guidance from our Inner Being - that which is broader, wiser, older. If we feel good, as WD likes to say, we are attracting our desires to us. If we feel bad, we are attracting the lack or our desire to us. The key is to monitor those feelings and if we are feeling bad, to think another thought, a happier thought. The more we can focus on having what we desire, the more emotion will come from that, and the faster the Universe will bring it to manifestation in our life. By being this way, we "get to" manifest our desires without the initial 100% focus. I do agree with you that, in the end, we reach that level of focus before manifestation occurs...it just takes time to get there, depending on both the intensity of our emotion and whether our emotions make us feel good or bad.

Thankyou Donald I appreciate very much your timely post, and agree with what you say.
At present my own process is unfolding as the light of realization penetrates my stupid ego.
Manifesting for me, is not to do with "wanting" but to do with expressing gratitude for having. Many of the "things" I have wanted have indeed come to pass and my own realization is that these have been "things" outside of the material world.
Instead of asking "how may I serve?" My intention now is to express gratitude for being able to do so, no matter what the task. As long as it is aligned with the highest good for ALL.
Manifesting now, for me, is to focus upon having more of the qualities I believe will assist each of us, more compassion, patience and understanding, as we evolve our consciousness for the sake of our planet and our species.
I desire to bring light and improve well being into the lives of those I am priveleged to work with. Being open hearted and minded is sometimes painful and also a reminder that it is not my will, but "Thy Will be done" and a recognition of my arrogance and stupidity serves to help trhe evolution of my own consciousness.
Recognising that I am always in the right place at the right time for what I need to learn can be humbling and illuminating and I am grateful for that.
Yes feelings are our connection to the Divine and recently I have replaced a thought of being "A-lone" to one of "All-One" .
There is no point in (ego) wanting for that which does not serve the highest good, there is every point in expressing gratitude for the ability to see the perfection in everything just the way it is.
This is for me, my path, in recognition of what I am. I do not speak here for any other being. If I am overweight it is because I over eat and do not take enough exercise, laziness has always been my downfall and that extends to my thinking.
Being in a state of vigilance as I witness my thoughts takes time and it is time well spent but for me requires great discipline. Oh how easy it is for me to switch on the TV and let a couple of hours go by. Instead I move my body into my outdoor shoes and out of the door to walk knowing that the results, for me will be better. As I walk I repeat and send out prayers for the health and well being of everyone I know and those I do not. My ego tells me I am insane, but it is in fact ego which is insane, the collective of which is running the world today.
So I go on, asking for more of those qualities which we all need and giving whenever and wherever I can.
To be kind, as WD has taught me, is a primary desire, and loving kindness feeds my soul.
Wanting or having? Teaching my students that it is better to have than to want and whatever is focused upon will expand, it is the universal law.
And this is my way. This time of year is my favourite as the desire for peace on earth intensifies and maybe for a few brief hours it will become manifest between 24th/25th december.
Thankyou for your post it reminds me fo what is valuable and brings to light again that we are indeed All-One, whatever our path.
Wishing you peace
Namaste
Elizabeth

This thread reminds me of an incident in my life that ended up very funny...My husband and I were in Las Vegas with my sister and her husband, they had never been there before. I have always been very happy for others who manifest abundance, jealous is not in my being!
As I played the slots along side of my younger sister, she began to win, I was so tickled for her and to see her excitement and joy! She asked me to go get her husband so that he could help her load the money into trays,
which I did, as I stood back and watched them, this thing came over me, and I said to my inner being, "Dammit it! I am so happy for anyone who wins and I want to win too!!!!" I went over and started playing the machine I had been on and I started winning and winning! I was amazed, I think it was the directness of my intentions at the moment! It was very pointed.
I think sometimes as we become more spiritual we can become somewhat complacent in matters for ourselves. We dream and flow along without really giving direction to our thoughts, stating exactly what we want for ourselves.
Anyway, I think it was the dammit!
Love to all and our journey!
Laugh at yourself, it helps!

Elizabeth, you write beautifully and eloquently about your intentions. Thank you for sharing. I am bothered a bit by the above references to your 'stupid ego' and a recognition of your 'arrogance and stupidity'. Actually, in a way it is refreshing to hear that kind of honest assessment. My concern comes with the fact that we manifest what we are thinking about, and if you are thinking about being stupid and arrogant, that is not what you desire, from reading the rest of your thoughts. (Note that if you choose to think of yourself in that way, I am not judging that. I am just observing that according to your other thoughts in this posting, it seems to me that those thoughts are not serving you.)

While it is true that ego thinks a bit highly of itself (as WD puts it, as a drop of the ocean thinks it is the entire ocean, or as a flame of the sun thinks it is the sun), it is still a part of the perfect you that has been co-created by you and your Source, and deserves the honor of being thought of as magnificent, as is the rest of you...body, mind and Soul. It just needs to realize that it is but the smallest part of you, which you can allow it to be by giving it no thought, nor enabling it when it tries to grow beyond what it is by influencing your thoughts. When that happens, don't give it or the thoughts, a second thought. Move to a happy, joyous thought.

The above also applies to your thoughts about being lazy. If they don't serve you, don't give them a second thought.

Namaste,

Ron

And for you, the same suggestion I made to someone else here today - read Dyer's book "Pulling Your Own Strings." You have to move through your "doom and gloom" and see that it is like all your other illusions of fear, nothing but a thought you hold in your mind. If you continue to see only that which you do not have, you will never see that which you do. It is like wanting to win the lottery - you first have to buy the ticket. You place your intention into the Universe, but you have to take some action when it comes back to you. The roof on your house is just not going to be done for you overnight. And look at how you stated your intentions. My guess is that you have some negative words in them. This only confuses the Universe - simply says that you are trying to manifest what you are not sure of. Start counting what you have instead of what you do not have and then become aware that you have more than you thought you had.

Namaste - Ron
