Hell to Everyone!

I initially registered in August but a little thing about three hurricanes and the need for power to run a computer and access the Internet got in the way. Now that things have settled into balance, I figured I should post something about myself.

My full name is Thomas P. DeLaine, Jr. (T.J.). My life has a mixture of small town living and seeing the world. I was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, and spent my childhood in High Point, North Carolina. After graduating from high school, I thought I was ready to attend college. After two years of feeling lost and not realizing I was not ready for college life, I decided to join the U.S. Navy.

Over the next 22 years, I truly was able to see the United States and the world! My travels included Winter Harbor Maine, Terceira Island, Azores, Portugal, Pensacola, Florida, Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory, Gander Newfoundland, Canada, Pearl Harbor Hawaii, Washington, D.C., and numerous ports of call throughout the world. I retired from the Navy on September 1st, 2000 and decided that I would stay in one place for a while so that I could at least unpack everything from the moving boxes!

That did not last for long. My first wife, Linda, pasted away on in 2002 and I decided to honor her by living, and not memorializing. I have since remarried and moved to Florida. With five children and two grandchildren, Marlies and I continue to stay busy!

I decided to check this site out after seeing the PBS special and feeling that I had found someone who I could understand and learn from. So, I will spend a lot of time reading and responding to other but I am new at this so, please be patience with me!

Thanks!

Best Regards!

T.J.

TJ;

Welcome to the discussion!

Sorry to hear the news on your first wife.

I can't believe the destruction that happened in Florida and the Caribbean over the past month! Glad to hear things are getting back to or are on path to return to normal.

We are all students on the path... 8)
