If you have a copy of the lyrics for any of Skye Dyer's songs, please post them here. I'm curious to read her lyrics to compare it against the Catholic version of the song (to see if there really is a difference). It's not that it would make any difference to me personally because I enjoyed her music regardless (free country theory).

Here is the Catholic version of the song

Lyrics for school hymn Prayer of Francis
Make me a channel of your peace
Where there is hatred, let me bring your love
Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord
And where there's doubt, true faith in you.

Make me a channel of your peace
Where there's despair in life, let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there's sadness, ever joy.

Oh, Master, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul.

Make me a channel of your peace
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
In giving to all men that we receive
And in dying that we're born to eternal life.

So, this is unofficial, but according to
http://maryamwebster.blogs.com/sage_wisdom/2004/03/the_power_of_in.html

Here are the lyrics that Skye sangThe Peace Prayer of Saint Francis

"O Lord, make me an instrument of Thy Peace!
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is discord, harmony.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sorrow, joy.

Oh Divine Master, grant that I may not
so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life."

Close, eh...yet so far apart.

I'm not sure Skye Dyer mentioned the word, "Lord..." not that I consider it a big deal, but some Catholics I'm sure are offended.

Thoughts?

Toni Collins was kind enough to send me an email that I wanted to share. She writes

"...I re-visited your discussion board, and the lyrics posted for Skye's version of "Prayer of St. Francis" are not the ones she sang on PBS, nor would they fit the cadence of the song. According to my notes from the tape, these are the words she sang"

Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there is hatred let me bring your love.
Where there is injury, your pardon, love, [1]
And where there's doubt, true faith in you.

Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there's despair in life, let me bring hope,
Where there is darkness, only light,
And where there's sadness ever joy.

O Master, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved, as to love, with all my soul.

Make me a channel of your peace.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, Love, [2]
In giving of ourselves that we receive,
And in dying that we're born to eternal life.

[1] Sebastian Temple wrote "Lord," not "love."

[2] The word "Love" does not appear in Temple's song. The line is simply "It is in pardoning that we are pardoned." Skye had to change the rhythm of the song to fit in the word "Love."

Any comments?
