This is from the first chapter of this book
Six primary ingredients of ego 1. I am what I have. My possessions define me. 2. I am what I do. My achievements define me. 3. I am what others think of me. My reputation defines me. 4. I am separate from everyone. My body defines me as alone. 5. I am separate from all that is missing in my life. My life space is disconnected from my desires. 6. I am separate from God. My life depends on God’s assessment of my worthiness. Do you have problems with any of the above? How do you feel as you go through each ingredient and see yourself? And what is your ego responding to during this process? Namaste - Ron Ron 29-04-2004 16:28:47
In the first Chapter of this book, Wayne quotes the following - altered - poem from Walt Whitman
"Song of Myself" – Whitman – altered "I hear and behold the face of endless abundance in every object, yet understand the face of endless abundance not in the least… I see something of the face of endless abundance each hour of the twenty-four, and each moment then, In the faces of men and women I see the face of endless abundance, and in my own face in the glass; I find letters from the face of endless abundance dropt in the street, and every one is signed by the face of endless abundance’s name, And I leave them where they are, for I know that whereso’er I go Others will punctually come forever and ever." Do you think you could possibly see a definition in this poem for "Namaste"? Isn't seeing "endless abundance" in the face of another like seeing God smiling back at you? Of course, in order to see "endless abundance" in another, you must first see it in yourself - it's presence is within you although you may not be aware of it. Seeing it in another is an indication that you are as you see. What are your views of this poem? Namaste - Ron Santiago611 04-12-2005 02:03:33
I don't know if anyone caught Dr. Wayne Dyer on PBS a couple of days ago. There was this woman singing this song. She was wearing a brown dress, Does anyone know who she is? Does she have a CD?
Thanks ebba79 09-12-2005 17:39:27
That's his daughter, Skye Dyer. I believe she was 22 years old at the time. She has two CDs out, both available through HayHouse. You Inspire Me is her latest one, it was released just a few months ago. I have it and I warmly recommend it D
Also, for more info on her, go to Skye Dyer Fan Discussion, on this board. onelovecandy 15-12-2005 20:12:51
It took me quite sometime to understand the ego. And until i really had a grasp of it, i was unable to seperate my self from it.
Once I did, I am now more mindful of always acknowledging that seperation. So in answer to your question. No, I am not my stuff. |
